“”I encountered Universitas when I was going to a center for university students close to UP Diliman called Kapuluan, which its founding members used to frequent, and I saw how good the organization was in terms of what it offers and I wanted to be a part of it. The key learning point that I’ve taken away, which I apply to this day, is to assume responsibility for your initiatives or for the projects entrusted to you, and at the same time, to be empathetic towards the needs of the team you’re a part of. A piece of advice for the people participating in activities offered by Universitas: be humble, take every opportunity that Universitas gives as a learning experience because that is what truly it is.”
Dr. Miguel Litao got in contact with Universitas when he was a college student at the University of the Philippines-Diliman. He was involved in Project Forge, social outreach initiative where university students teach Math, English and Values to kids at the Krus na Ligas neighborhood near UP. He was also once a Student Convenor of the Universitas Student Conference (USC), a three half-day conference where prominent speakers share their expertise and ideals to university and high school students, hoping to inspire them to help lead our country to a better tomorrow.. He also organized Universitas activities when he went to UP Manila to study medicine. He did his residency in Neurology and fellowship in Vascular Neurology in New York University (NYU), where he is currently a Neurointerventional Fellow.
