HAVE YOU ALREADY THOUGHT OF SHARING YOUR BLESSINGS THIS CHRISTMAS? And you just could not find time to do it? We could help you achieve that.
As the song goes, Christmas is ‘the most wonderful time of the year’. For many of us, no phrase can really capture our annual Christmas experience accurately. Among Filipinos, known to have the longest and one of the most festive Christmas seasons in the world, the word ‘Christmas’ conjures up memories of unending parties, warm reunions with relatives and friends, 9-day Simbang Gabi, delightful noche buena’s and media noche’s shared with our families, and exchanging Christmas gifts.
In the face of much festivity during this delightful season, material poverty is a reality confronted by many Filipino families, leaving them with little to no adequate means to put food on the table, let alone partake in the celebrations as the world commemorates the wonderful event when, as another song puts it, “Christ the Savior is born”.
Keeping this reality in mind, and as an integral part of its effort to teach leaders to live compassion, Universitas will bring SLEIGH [Sharing Love to Every Indigent through Gifts and Happenings] this December 16, first day of the Simbang Gabi, to some 100 poor children and their families living along the coastal area of San Isidro de Labrador, Ligtong I, Rosario, Cavite, upon the recommendation of the local Ordinary, who is himself known for his love for the poor, Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista.

THE PARTY IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT JOLLIBEE. The President & CEO during a similar Christmas celebration with indigent children last year.
The outreach aims mainly to help the leaders being formed in the Foundation to experience first-hand the plight of some of our poor neighbors, and as a consequence, to hopefully move them to compassion, and when they are already in positions of influence, to help craft initiatives and programs to help alleviate their condition.
A small but festive celebration among children in the selected indigent community will be held. We are now gathering gifts/donations for them, and hopefully, Noche Buena meals for their families as well. This is where you can channel your desire to share your blessings to the poor this Christmas. You may help us in any of the following ways:
- Donate in Cash. We project a cost of Php5,000 (around 100 USD) per beneficiary, but any amount would be welcome. To know more how to send it, please visit https://www.universitas.ph/support/. We prefer the option of directly depositing the amount to our BDO bank account because we receive the donation intact, unlike other platforms where they charge us for receiving the donation. Please send us a photo or a screenshot of your deposit at sleigh@universitas.ph or through Viber or WhatsApp at +63917-7954233. Please include your name and contact number and indicate that the donation is for SLEIGH 2018.
- Donate in Kind. For donations in kind, please send us at least 100 pieces (please add extra for emergencies) of whatever you wish to donate such as Christmas ham, quezo de bola, chocolates, candies, toys, canned goods, pastries/bread, or whatever could be used by the families for their Noche Buena on Christmas eve. Please have the goods delivered to:
